
Cyclist Sentenced After Fatal Drogichin Accident
A tragic accident in Drogichin, Belarus, has resulted in a three-year sentence for a 33-year-old man. The man, identified only as the accused, was found guilty of causing the death of a 58-year-old passenger in February 2025. According to Natalya Kovalevskaya, an assistant to the prosecutor of the Drogichin District, the accused was intoxicated and violated traffic rules by carrying the passenger on his bicycle. "The accused violated safety regulations," stated Kovalevskaya in a video statement. The incident resulted in fatal injuries to the passenger, who died at the scene. The court, considering the amnesty law in connection with the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, sentenced the accused to three years of restricted freedom in an open-type correctional facility.
