Bolivia Modernizes Toll Collection with Electronic System Santa Cruz, Bolivia – Vías Bolivia has launched a new electronic toll collection system at highway checkpoints across the country, starting in Santa Cruz on May 19th, 2025. This initiative aims to modernize the country's roadways and improve efficiency for drivers. The system uses radio frequency identification (RFID) tags affixed to vehicles. As vehicles pass through toll plazas, antennas read the tags and automatically deduct the toll from the driver's pre-paid account.
