CCOO Rejects Metal Industry Pre-Agreement, Strike Continues in Cádiz
Cádiz, Spain – The CCOO union has announced its withdrawal from the pre-agreement reached between UGT and the employers' association, aimed at ending the indefinite metal industry strike in Cádiz. The agreement, brokered with the mediation of the Junta de Andalucía, was signed following a new round of negotiations. However, CCOO stated that while the new text contains some improvements compared to a previous pre-agreement, which was rejected earlier in the week, it still does not have their full backing. The situation has led to heightened tensions throughout the week, marked by large-scale marches and confrontations with local police. CCOO representatives have indicated their intention to analyze any "damaging issues" within the convention text and pursue legal action if necessary. The union emphasized its commitment to the workers' fight, with protesters chanting "Ni un paso atrás en la lucha del metal" (Not one step back in the metal fight) during a demonstration.
