Influencer's Lavish TikTok Videos Lead to Deportation
A Venezuelan TikTok influencer, known as "Hija de Dios," (Evelin Hernandez) found herself at the center of a deportation case after flaunting her wealthy lifestyle online. Videos showing her sleeping on stacks of cash and other displays of wealth raised suspicions with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Tampa, Florida. ICE officers detained Hernandez and her partner on June 3rd, 2025. The couple remains in detention at the Pinellas County Jail and could be deported to Venezuela soon. Hernandez's TikTok videos, which she used to showcase her lifestyle, inadvertently attracted unwanted attention. "It was a big mistake," said a source close to the family, requesting anonymity. The incident highlights the increasing use of social media in immigration investigations and raises questions about the privacy of individuals online. The government's intensified social media surveillance is part of broader anti-immigrant measures. The case serves as a cautionary tale about the potential consequences of sharing personal information online.
