Dominican Republic's Green Energy Push: On Track for 2030 Goal
Dominican Republic on Track for Renewable Energy Goal: Director Edward Veras Reports Significant Progress The Dominican Republic is making strides toward its ambitious goal of reaching 30% renewable energy by 2030, according to Edward Veras, director of the country's National Energy Commission (CNE). Veras shared this positive assessment during a recent interview at the "Government Management: Challenges, Objectives, and Goals" business forum, organized by GALA Media Group. "In the area of renewable energy, we've made significant progress," Veras stated. "We now have the participation of more than 37 large-scale projects contributing to daily energy generation." He emphasized that these projects are not only meeting current demands but also preparing the nation for future growth. Veras also highlighted the substantial investment in renewable energy, averaging 1,200 million dollars annually from the private sector. This investment underscores the commitment of both the government and private entities to a sustainable energy future for the Dominican Republic. He expressed confidence in the nation's ability to achieve the 25% target by the end of 2025 and remain on track to meet the 30% goal by 2030. The director's optimistic outlook and the substantial financial backing suggest a promising path toward a cleaner energy future for the Dominican Republic. The continued progress in renewable energy projects is not only beneficial for the environment but also contributes to the country's economic development and energy security.
