Guatemalan singer-songwriter Gaby Moreno has once again garnered international recognition, securing a nomination for the Latin Grammys 2025. Her music video for "Lamento" has been nominated in the prestigious 'Best Long Form Music Video' category. This nomination highlights Moreno's consistent presence and talent on the international music scene. "Lamento," a track from her 2022 album "Alegoría," is described as a poetic and metaphorical reflection on profound themes including time, memory, the immigrant experience, and the imminent impact of climate change. The cinematic project, filmed in Guatemala, involved numerous Guatemalan talents, including director Diego Contreras, marking his first cinematographic endeavor. The narrative of the video follows Moreno as she returns to a childhood place – an old beach resort in Guatemala, now being reclaimed by the sea and on the verge of disappearing. Joined by a local fisherman, portrayed by actor Tony Revolori, and an enigmatic entity named Finitor, they embark on a quest to capture and preserve the soul and memory of a life and land facing oblivion. Prior to this Latin Grammy nomination, "Lamento" received significant acclaim, winning six awards at the International Short Film Festival of Los Angeles, known as Indie Short Fest, in February 2025. This latest nomination further solidifies Gaby Moreno's standing as a leading artist in Latin music.
