Uber Study Reveals Shocking Truths About Motorcycle Accidents in Brazil
Brazil: Uber Study Reveals Key Insights into Motorcycle Accidents São Paulo, Brazil – A new study on motorcycle accidents in Brazil, sponsored by Uber and conducted in partnership with Instituto Cordial and Abramet, has revealed alarming statistics. The research, spanning over three months and focusing on data collected from Santo André's hospital, indicates that a concerning number of accidents involve preventable factors. "One in four accidents involved drivers lacking a national driver's license," states Laura Lequain, Head of Uber Moto in Brazil. This statistic aligns with data from the SENATRAN, which shows that over 50% of motorcycle drivers in Brazil lack proper licensing. Furthermore, the study found that in 20% of cases, alcohol or drug use was a contributing factor. Significantly, 80% of the accidents happened during routine commutes, highlighting the need for increased safety awareness in everyday riding. Uber is responding to these findings by launching a new traffic safety education portal at the end of the month, in collaboration with the National Observatory for Road Safety. This initiative underscores Uber's commitment to improving road safety for both its drivers and users.
