Georgia Mom Alleges Teacher Belittled Her Autistic Son’s Achievements After See…
A Georgia mother is calling for the dismissal of a teacher she says downplayed her son’s academic success because of the school he attends.
A mother has come forward with serious allegations of racism and discrimination against a teacher at The Goddard School of Roswell, Georgia. The woman, who posted her account online, claims that a teacher, identified as 'Karen,' made disparaging remarks about her Black autistic son. The incident reportedly came to light when a former teacher from the school contacted the mother. According to the mother, the former teacher informed her that 'Karen' had questioned the 'requirement' for a school predominantly attended by 'minority children' after seeing the logo on her son's uniform. The mother highlighted her son's high-functioning autism and his excellent academic performance, stating, "My son is scoring at the top of his class, he's doing amazing, he's testing at a first-grade level and he's in kindergarten." She expressed her outrage at the implication that her son's capabilities were being judged based on the school's demographic. Furthermore, the mother alleged that 'Karen' has a history of mistreating an autistic child currently in her class, making humiliating comments and embarrassing him in front of his peers for making mistakes. "She treats him bad. She makes comments about him. She embarrasses him and humiliates him if he makes a mistake in front of the entire class," the mother stated. The mother is now calling for public action, urging individuals to leave reviews for The Goddard School of Roswell and demanding the immediate termination of the teacher. She emphasized the importance of protecting and supporting all children, regardless of their race, background, or any disabilities. "We're going to protect our children, all children, no matter where they come from, no matter what their background is, no matter what they look like, no matter what they struggle with," she asserted, adding, "If you can't do that, then you need to be fired." The school has not yet released a public statement regarding these allegations.
