The customer, known online as mamabaerinsider, detailed the encounter in a widely viewed video, stating she and her mother were subjected to rude and ridiculing behavior.According to the customer, the incident began in the fitting room area when an older female employee displayed a "bad attitude." The situation escalated when the employee confronted the customer about a pair of jeans that had been hung inside out. "This is ridiculous! This is absolutely horrendous! Like, why are you doing it this way? Who does this?" the employee reportedly exclaimed. The customer and her mother, attempting to de-escalate, proceeded to correct the clothing. However, the employee then directly questioned the customer, "Where are you from?" When the customer replied she was from a nearby town in Connecticut, the employee allegedly retorted, "No, you're not. I know what people from that town sound like. You are not from that town. This accent, where are you really from?" The employee then mimicked the customer's speech. The customer expressed deep disappointment, stating, "This whole experience has overall left such a bad feeling... I'm pretty sure I'm never going back to Marshall's ever again."
