Antes de acostar al pequeño hay que tener muy en cuenta su estado de relajación, señala el médico
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Dr. Fabiano Tebas, a pediatrician with over two decades of experience, recently shared crucial insights into improving infant sleep. According to Dr. Tebas, ensuring a baby is truly relaxed before sleep is paramount to preventing agitated and interrupted rest. "If we don't help them enter that state of calm, even if they fall asleep, their sleep tends to be lighter and interrupted," Dr. Tebas explained. He emphasized that while breastfeeding often helps, parents should explore other relaxation techniques beyond the breast to prevent exhaustion for both the baby and the mother. Dr. Tebas suggested several methods parents can try to soothe their infants: gentle massages on hands or feet, soft caresses between the eyebrows, singing a tranquil song, a warm bath (depending on the baby's preference), reading a book in a calming voice, and maintaining a calm parental presence. He noted that discovering what works best for each child is a process of "trial and error, errors and successes." "Try one thing, if it doesn't work, try another," he advised, highlighting that these simple methods can be highly beneficial for a baby's sleep quality.
