A Chicago blind man is reeling after he says that someone stole his service dog out of the yard of his Logan square neighborhood home.
Chicago, IL – The search for Bam Bam, a 14-year-old Dachshund mix and crucial service dog, continues in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood after he was stolen from his owner, Angel Santiago. Mr. Santiago, who is legally blind due to glaucoma and also lives with type 2 diabetes, shared his profound distress over the loss of his companion. According to Santiago, Bam Bam was taken from his backyard on June 5th in the 2300 block of North Monticello and West Fullerton during a brief outdoor excursion. Santiago attempted to intervene but was overpowered by the individuals who took his dog. Since the incident, Bam Bam has been diligently walking miles daily, distributing flyers in the hope of finding Bam Bam. Volunteers have joined his efforts, and numerous individuals have offered financial donations. However, Santiago's sole desire is for the safe return of his loyal service dog, stating, "I don't want no other dog. Bam Bam's the best thing that has happened since he came into my life. I need people out there to borrow me their eyes and let their eyes be mine and hoping that I can find my Bam Bam." Bam Bam is microchipped, and a $1,000 reward is being offered for his return. The story has resonated deeply with the community, with a local DJ, Klinger from Rock 95.5, adding an additional $500 to the reward pool. Authorities and community members urge anyone with information regarding Bam Bam's whereabouts to call 1-866-597-2424.
