Enem 2025: New Rules and Dates Announced for Brazilian College Entrance Exam
Enem 2025 Registration Opens in Brazil with New Features Brazil's national college entrance exam, Enem, opened registration on May 26th, 2025, with several key changes. The exam is crucial for accessing higher education, serving as a selection criterion for both public and private universities. It's also a requirement for Prouni scholarships and Fies student loans. This year, a significant change is the reinstatement of Enem as a high school completion certificate, a feature absent since 2017. Students must indicate this intention during registration, achieve at least 450 points in each subject area, obtain a minimum of 500 points on the essay, and be 18 years or older. Joaquim Cássio Ribeiro, a student, commented on the simplified registration process: "I already had my name, address, mother's name, and CPF. For many people who have difficulties, this is a great help." The exam dates are also noteworthy. While most of the country will have the exam on November 9th and 16th, Belém, Ananindeua, and Marituba in Pará state will have it on November 30th and December 7th, due to the COP30 climate conference. Registration continues until June 6th, with a fee of R$85 payable until June 11th. Even those exempt from the fee must register. The simplified registration for public school third-year students is a welcome addition, though they still need to confirm details and choose a foreign language.
