

Drunk Driver's Bribery Attempt Leads to Arrest in Belarus
A drunk driver's attempt to bribe traffic police officers in Belarus has resulted in criminal charges. The incident unfolded on May 30th near the village of Mars, in the Gomel region. A 62-year-old man driving a ZIL vehicle was stopped by officers of the State Automobile Inspectorate (GAI) due to suspicion of intoxication. A breathalyzer test confirmed a blood alcohol content of 2.2 промилле. According to the video released by the GAI, the driver offered 1600 Belarusian rubles to avoid legal consequences. "He offered the money directly," stated an officer in the video. The driver's offer was rejected, and he was subsequently arrested. "We warned him about the criminal liability for bribery," another officer is heard saying. The driver's car was impounded.
