MINSK, Belarus - The State Automobile Inspectorate of the Republic of Belarus has intensified its traffic enforcement efforts by integrating unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones, into their daily operations. This modern approach aims to enhance the detection of traffic violations and improve overall road safety across the country. Footage released by the Inspectorate demonstrates officers deploying and controlling drones from the roadside. These aerial devices provide a bird's-eye view of traffic flow, allowing officers to identify infractions such as speeding, improper lane changes, or failure to yield to pedestrians from a unique vantage point. Once a violation is detected, ground units are alerted to intercept the vehicle. One segment of the video shows an officer operating a drone controller, observing vehicles from above on a screen. Another scene depicts an officer stopping a vehicle and subsequently using a tablet device to process the violation, indicating a streamlined and technologically advanced procedure for issuing citations. The use of drones represents a significant step in leveraging technology for more efficient and comprehensive traffic monitoring. Officials state that this enhanced mode of service is part of ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with road traffic regulations and reduce accidents. The initiative underscores the Inspectorate's commitment to adopting innovative solutions for maintaining public order and safety on Belarusian roads.
