MMDA's No-Contact Apprehension Policy: Metro Manila's New Traffic System
Metro Manila braces for No Contact Apprehension Policy implementation. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is set to implement its No Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP) on Monday, May 26, 2025. This new system will use approximately 300 CCTV cameras strategically placed across Metro Manila to automatically detect and record traffic violations. The MMDA Chairman, Artes, stated, "This is a major step towards improving traffic management in Metro Manila." The policy will be enforced on major thoroughfares, including Roxas Boulevard, Ortigas Avenue, Commonwealth Avenue, C5, EDSA, and the Mabuhay Lanes. Violators will receive notices of their violations sent directly to their homes, eliminating the need for physical apprehension. The MMDA plans to install an additional 1,000 cameras in the near future. The implementation of the NCAP is expected to improve traffic flow and reduce traffic violations in the city. This move represents a significant technological advancement in traffic management and promises a more efficient and less disruptive enforcement system.
