Philippines Braces for Heavy Rains as LPA Intensifies
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is closely monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA) located 415 kilometers west of Baguio City, La Union. According to GMA Integrated News weather presenter Amor Larrosa, "The chance of this developing into a full-blown typhoon is increasing." The Habagat, or southwest monsoon, is expected to intensify, resulting in heavy rainfall across the country. PAGASA forecasts heavy to intense rainfall (100-200mm) in Zambales and Occidental Mindoro, with moderate to heavy rainfall (50-100mm) expected in Metro Manila, Pampanga, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Palawan, and Antique. "We are expecting heavy rainfall across Luzon tomorrow, particularly in the afternoon," Larrosa stated. Residents are urged to be prepared for potential flooding and landslides. The report also includes forecasts for the Visayas and Mindanao regions. PAGASA continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as they become available.
