A new device dubbed 'Brick' is gaining attention for its innovative approach to combating smartphone addiction and enhancing productivity. Haley, a user of the device, recently shared her personal experience, claiming it has "made such a huge improvement in my life." The Brick device, which is magnetic and can be placed on a fridge, works in conjunction with a phone app. Users can set schedules or manually 'brick' their phones by tapping them against the device, thereby limiting access to distracting applications like TikTok, Instagram, and Pinterest. Haley explained, "When you have a screen time limit on your phone, all you have to do is like basically click snooze… but this makes it so much easier because you physically have to go up to wherever it is and click your phone to it." She reported a significant improvement in her mental health and productivity, noting she has finished two books since using the device, a feat she hadn't accomplished since her second daughter's birth in March. The physical act of 'unbricking' the phone, she suggests, creates a mental barrier that encourages more intentional phone use and reduces mindless scrolling, allowing for more focus on work and household tasks.
