Houston Protest Condemns ICE Arrests, Demands End to Deportation Tactics
Hundreds of people protested outside the CoreCivic Houston Processing Center on Friday evening, June 14, 2025, to denounce Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) presence in Houston and their deportation tactics. The protest, organized by FIEL, Houston's largest immigrant rights group, followed at least three consecutive days of arrests by plainclothes ICE agents at the Houston immigration court. "Deportation without due process is just called kidnapping," read one sign held by a demonstrator. Another protester, standing on a stepladder to address the crowd, stated, "We want freedom!" The demonstration included speeches, chants, and a march around the detention center. The event highlights ongoing concerns about immigration enforcement practices in Houston and the broader fight for immigrant rights.
