Белоруска рассказала, как в жару в дизеле включили отопление.
MINSK, Belarus – Passengers on a Belarusian diesel train recently experienced unusual conditions during a summer journey, with internal carriage temperatures reportedly reaching 40 degrees Celsius. A video uploaded by passenger ina2122 on August 16, 2025, showed a thermometer inside the carriage indicating the high temperature, sparking widespread discussion online. According to the passenger, train staff informed travelers that the heating system was intentionally activated to prevent the engine from overheating. This measure presented passengers with a choice: endure the sweltering heat while the train continued its journey, or face prolonged delays as the train would need to stop to allow the engine to cool down. The incident has drawn attention to the operational challenges of older train models, particularly during hot weather. Comments on the video suggest that such practices are sometimes necessary to ensure the train's continued operation, with one user explaining, "If the crew turned on the heater in the cabins, it means they have already tried all ways to somehow cool the engine. If they hadn't turned on the cabin heating and distributed the temperature, you wouldn't be going, but standing, because there is overheating protection and the engine stalls." Other comments highlighted the age of some trains on the Belarusian railway network, with one user noting, "This train is forty-something years old, thanks to the Riga Carriage Building Plant that it even runs and transports people, albeit with less comfort." The situation underscores the balance between maintaining schedules and ensuring passenger comfort, particularly as climate conditions lead to more frequent heatwaves.
