A Polish woman, Joanna Kelm-Kazimierska, has shared her candid experience of emigrating to Switzerland, highlighting the often-unseen emotional toll of starting anew in a foreign country. Despite securing employment in a picturesque Swiss village, Ms. Kelm-Kazimierska recounted her initial days filled with tears and profound loneliness. "I arrived completely alone, with debts, to a country I didn't know," she stated in her recent video. "I found myself in a village where no one spoke the German I knew." She described feeling lost and isolated, crying daily into her pillow. "Emigration can first break your heart before it begins to heal it," she reflected, emphasizing that the journey is initially about survival before it transforms into a new life. Her story serves as a poignant reminder that while the practicalities of moving abroad, such as paperwork and permits, are crucial, the emotional and psychological aspects, including patience and daily adaptation, are equally vital. Ms. Kelm-Kazimierska concluded her message with encouragement for others on a similar path: "If you are at the beginning of your journey, know that you are not alone. Everyone started somewhere, and I did too. And you know what? I succeeded. You will too."
