Mexican Navy Intercepts Narco-Submarine Carrying Over 3.5 Tons of Cocaine Off Guerrero Coast
A significant blow was dealt to international drug trafficking operations as the Mexican Navy successfully intercepted a semi-submersible vessel off the coast of Guerrero. The operation led to the seizure of more than 3.5 tons of cocaine and the detention of three foreign individuals. The vessel, often referred to as a 'narco-submarine' due to its low profile and difficulty in detection, was discovered by naval forces during a routine surveillance mission. Upon inspection, authorities found numerous packages of what is suspected to be cocaine concealed within its compartments. Following the interdiction, the semi-submersible was secured, and the illicit cargo was transferred to a naval ship. Images released by authorities show hundreds of neatly packed bundles of the narcotic laid out on the deck of a naval vessel, underscoring the massive scale of the seizure. The detained individuals are reportedly foreign nationals, and investigations are ongoing to determine their identities and connections to international drug cartels. This successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts by Mexican authorities to combat organized crime and disrupt drug smuggling routes in the region.
