A recent video by charisma expert Liz Rose sheds light on subtle facial expressions, known as micro-expressions, that can reveal a person's true nature, even before they speak. Rose explains that these non-verbal cues, backed by the Facial Action Coding System, offer valuable insights into someone's personality, particularly identifying potentially 'nasty' or 'toxic' individuals. According to Rose, one key indicator is the 'contempt smirk,' a subtle one-sided smile often seen on the left side of the face. "Research shows that this expression is a strong predictor of relationship breakdown because it signals disrespect masked as charm," Rose stated. She advises caution if someone smirks while you speak, noting, "That's not warmth, it's ego." Other revealing micro-expressions include the 'eye roll' or 'rapid eye darting,' which signals a belief of superiority or annoyance. A 'nose wrinkle,' appearing in flashes like a 'snarl,' indicates moral disgust, often shown when someone views another as inferior or embarrassing. The 'micro glare,' characterized by lowered brows and narrowed eyelids, suggests hidden irritation or plotting dominance, and can change the energy of a room. Finally, the 'smile freeze' is identified as a rehearsed social mask. "Their smile doesn't match their eyes; the mouth smiles but the eyes stay cold, or the smile lingers too long after the emotional moment has passed," Rose explained. She emphasizes that these facial leaks reveal what the mind hides, urging viewers to trust their intuition and observe these subtle cues to better understand those around them.
