Malaysian Health Ministry Issues Warning: Popular Cosmetic Cream Contains Mercury Kuala Lumpur, May 16, 2025 – The Malaysian Ministry of Health (KKM), through the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA), has issued a stern warning to the public regarding the Seri Ayu Secret Radiant Repair Cream. The cream has been found to contain mercury, a toxic substance harmful to human health. The KKM has ordered an immediate halt to the sale and distribution of the product. "The presence of mercury in this cream poses a serious health risk," said a spokesperson for the NPRA. "We urge anyone who has purchased this product to immediately stop using it and seek medical advice if they experience any adverse effects." The NPRA has revoked the product's registration, and sellers and distributors found to be in violation of the Poisons and Cosmetic Control Regulations 1984 face penalties of up to RM50,000 in fines or imprisonment of up to five years, or both. The ministry is working to remove the cream from the market and prevent further distribution. The KKM's swift action underscores the importance of consumer safety and the ongoing fight against unsafe cosmetic products in Malaysia. Consumers are encouraged to be vigilant and report any suspicious products to the authorities.
