Tragic Accident Claims Two Lives in Rompin, Pahang A devastating car accident occurred on May 17, 2025, at approximately 3:30 AM on Kilometer 156 of the Kuantan-Johor Bahru highway in Rompin, Pahang, Malaysia. The collision involved a car, a motorcycle, and a bicycle, resulting in two fatalities and one injury. According to Rompin District Police Chief Superintendent Sharif Shah, "The accident happened when a car traveling from Johor Bahru towards Kuantan collided with a cyclist who suddenly crossed the road." The impact of the crash caused the car to veer off the road and into a nearby ditch. The driver of the car, Muhammad Shahrull Hazi Muhammad Sharif, 28, and the cyclist, Azraie Abdul Azim, 22, were pronounced dead at the scene. A 36-year-old woman riding a motorcycle sustained injuries and was taken to Rompin Hospital for treatment. The police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
