Malaysian Court Rejects Bung Moktar's Appeal in RM2.8 Million Bribery Case
A Kuala Lumpur court has rejected an appeal by Malaysian politician Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin and his wife, Datin Seri Zizie Izette Abdul Samad, to overturn a ruling that they must stand trial on corruption charges. The couple, accused of receiving bribes totaling RM2.8 million, argued that the Court of Appeal lacked the authority to make the previous ruling. However, a three-judge panel, led by Datuk Che Mohd Ruzima Ghazali, disagreed, stating that the appeal lacked merit. "The court found no basis to overturn the Court of Appeal's decision," said a spokesperson for the court. The couple will now face trial in the Sessions Court, with hearings scheduled between August 18th and 20th, September 2nd and 4th, and September 24th and 26th. The case is a significant development in Malaysia's ongoing fight against corruption.
