RM20,000 Bribery Scandal Rocks Malaysian Police Force
Three Malaysian Police Officers Charged with Bribery Ipoh, Malaysia – In a significant development, three police officers from Kedah, Malaysia, have been charged with accepting a bribe of RM20,000 to cover up a drug-related offense. The incident came to light following an investigation into financial transactions. The accused, Lance Corporals Ahmad Rabbani Rusniza, 29, Muhammad Shukri Mohamad Rowi, 37, and Wan Mohamad Nor Imran Wan Seman, 35, appeared before Judge Meor Sulaiman Ahmad Termizi at the Ipoh Sessions Court today. According to the first charge, the three officers, while serving in the Kedah Criminal Investigation Department, collectively received a RM10,000 bribe through a money transfer from Azizi Nor Hafizi Abu Bakar's Maybank Islamic account to Ahmad Rabbani's BSN account on July 24, 2023. The second charge mirrors the first, alleging the same bribe of RM10,000 was transferred from Azizi's account to Ahmad Rabbani's account on July 25, 2023. "The bribe was intended to prevent action against Azizi for possession of syabu," stated the prosecution. The officers pleaded not guilty. Bail was set at RM5,000 each, with additional conditions. The next court date is June 26. This case highlights the ongoing battle against corruption within law enforcement. The court's decision to grant bail indicates the judicial process is underway, offering a degree of transparency and accountability.
