
Major LPG Gas Seizure in Selangor: Over 1 Ton of Subsidized Fuel Confiscated
Selangor Authorities Seize Over 1 Ton of Misused Subsidized LPG Gas Selangor, Malaysia – In a joint operation, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) and the Selangor police uncovered a significant amount of subsidized liquid petroleum gas (LPG) suspected of being misused. The raid, conducted on May 23rd, resulted in the seizure of over one ton of LPG cylinders, estimated to be worth more than RM100,000. The raid targeted a lorry carrying the gas. According to Mohamad Hanifzam Kc, Enforcement Director of KPDN Selangor, "The raid, following a month-long investigation, uncovered a lorry containing the LPG, along with equipment used to transfer the gas from smaller to larger cylinders." The operation also led to the apprehension of two foreign individuals in their 40s. The seized LPG consisted of both 14kg and 50kg cylinders, exceeding 90 units in total. Authorities believe the syndicate was attempting to divert subsidized gas intended for household use to the commercial sector. The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961. This successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts to combat the misuse of subsidized goods and protect consumers.
