RM15 Incentive to Ease Port Klang Congestion
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – In a press conference held earlier today, Malaysia's Transport Minister, Anthony Loke Siew Fook, announced a new initiative to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce accidents involving heavy vehicles around Port Klang. Starting July 1st, 2025, a RM15 incentive will be offered to goods transporters who utilize the port during off-peak hours. "This incentive is part of a larger effort to improve the efficiency and safety of our logistics network," said Minister Loke. The program, managed by the National Logistics Task Force (NLTF), will be implemented in phases. A pilot program will begin in August 2025, with full implementation expected by early next year. The RM15 incentive will cover two-way movements, with a reduced rate for single movements. The cost will be covered through terminal access charges. Importers and exporters will also receive an extended period of free storage, up to four days, before storage charges apply. The success of the program will be monitored, and the incentive may be withdrawn if targets are not met. This initiative represents a positive step towards improving Malaysia's logistics infrastructure and enhancing road safety.
