Malaysia Strengthens Heavy Vehicle Safety Checks
Malaysia Enhances Heavy Vehicle Safety Checks Starting June 1st, 2025 Malaysia's Road Transport Department (JPJ) is implementing stricter safety checks for heavy vehicles, starting June 1st, 2025. This initiative aims to improve road safety by focusing on two key areas: tire tread depth and specialized inspections of tipper and dumper trucks. The JPJ Director-General, Datuk Eddie Fadzil Ramli, stated that "These improvements are crucial for strengthening safety standards and enhancing the quality of our services." The inspections will pay particular attention to vehicles transporting materials such as timber, ore, and padi. The minimum tread depth for tires will be 1.6mm across the entire surface. This move underscores Malaysia's commitment to reducing road accidents involving heavy vehicles and creating safer roads for all.
