Nurse Loses RM100,000 to Facebook Investment Scam
A nurse in Malaysia has lost over RM100,000 in a social media investment scam. The victim, a 52-year-old woman, was targeted by a scammer using the name IQ Option on Facebook. The scammer convinced the victim to invest her Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) savings, promising high returns. However, the investment was fake, and the victim lost her entire savings in a series of 16 transactions between May 23rd and 28th. "I only realized I had been scammed after I failed to get my investment back," said the victim. Police are investigating the case and urging the public to be wary of investment scams on social media. This incident highlights the importance of verifying investment opportunities before committing funds and underscores the growing threat of online financial fraud.
