The scam, which targeted victims through social media, resulted in significant financial losses. According to Kuala Terengganu District Police Chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor, "We have received 12 reports since January, with the most recent involving a 52-year-old teacher who lost RM5,499." A separate report involved a 52-year-old businesswoman who lost RM14,110 from three bank accounts after clicking a fraudulent link. ACP Noor urged the public to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of online information before interacting with any links. The police are actively investigating these cases and have encouraged anyone with information about similar scams to come forward. This serves as a reminder for Malaysians to be wary of online scams and to always verify information.
