Former FBI Agent Michael Easter Exposes "Incomplete and Inaccurate" Karen Read Murder Investigation
In a recent exclusive interview, former FBI agent and Marine officer Michael Easter, who served as an expert witness for the defense in the high-profile Karen Read murder trial, shared his critical assessment of the Massachusetts State Police's investigation. Easter, initially tasked with analyzing historical cellphone and geolocation records, revealed that his review expanded to encompass the entire investigative process, leading him to conclude that it was fundamentally flawed. "The investigation was incomplete, inconsistent, and inaccurate," Easter stated. He highlighted significant deficiencies, including the failure to properly collect and preserve evidence, particularly concerning cellphone data and CCTV footage along potential travel routes. Easter emphasized that logical investigative steps were not followed, leading to a premature identification of Karen Read as the sole suspect. When asked whether these discrepancies pointed to corruption or incompetence, Easter acknowledged the difficulty in differentiating, noting that both could lead to similar problematic outcomes. He stressed that the initial response to the scene was overwhelmingly lacking, with investigators failing to secure the area and actively discouraging public assistance. "My first law enforcement reaction was, why didn't anybody show up? Why didn't everybody show up?" Easter remarked, underscoring the unusual nature of the response. His findings suggest a deeply problematic investigation that left many critical questions unanswered.
