Palestinian Woman Defies Violence, Wins Tractor License Amidst West Bank Crisis
In the occupied West Bank village of al-Mughayyir, settler violence is reaching alarming levels. The UN reports an average of 44 attacks per month, the highest in two decades. This violence has forced residents to adapt. Fatima Abu Naim, 32, recently obtained a tractor license to help her family harvest their wheat. "We live in an area where cars that come are blocked from reaching us by the settlers," she explains. "This encouraged me to obtain a tractor license." Despite facing criticism from some in her village for stepping outside traditional gender roles, Fatima says, "I only consulted my husband and my family...that really encouraged me." Her story highlights the resilience of Palestinians facing ongoing conflict and the innovative ways they find to maintain their livelihoods and connection to their land.
