Settler Violence Forces Displacement in Ras Ain al-Ouja
In the occupied West Bank, near Jericho, lies the village of Ras Ain al-Ouja. Here, a disturbing pattern of displacement is unfolding. Israeli settlers, backed by the Israeli army, are systematically seizing land and water resources, causing immense hardship for the local Palestinian community. "They are suffocating us," says Rasmiyeh Ali, a resident of Ras Ain al-Ouja, describing the constant pressure and fear. The settlers have cut off the village's water supply, blocked access roads, and even stolen sheep. Haitham Zayed, another villager, explains, "They cut off our water supply, they are closing down the road that leads to the village, and they try to burn homes down." This pattern of violence and dispossession has escalated since mid-2022, with at least 60 Palestinian villages completely expelled from their lands. The situation in Ras Ain al-Ouja serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing human rights crisis in the occupied territories.
