Miley Cyrus has shed new light on the creative and financial efforts behind her highly acclaimed 2014 Bangerz tour, revealing it was a deeply personal investment. In a recent video, the pop superstar explained that many of her ambitious ideas for the tour, which included elements like 'big puppets' and 'oversized beds,' were initially met with skepticism and a lack of external support. "The Bangerz tour was an investment in myself," Cyrus stated. "A lot of these ideas were kind of so outlandish that no one really wanted to support me in making these pieces." She went on to describe how she personally funded the entire production to bring her vision to life. "I didn't make a dime on this tour because I wanted the tour to be excellent," she asserted. "I said there's no one I would rather invest in than myself. So I paid for it all to make it exactly what I thought I and the fans deserved." Cyrus also detailed the tour's unique finale, which she conceptualized with director Diane Martel. "I wanted to end it in a Truman Show reference," she explained, referring to the 1998 film. This involved her flying out on a "giant hot dog" and exiting through a cloud-filled backdrop, mirroring Jim Carrey's character in the movie. Cyrus noted that she felt 'The Truman Show' was "really a reflection of my life." Her candid revelations offer a rare glimpse into the artistic integrity and personal sacrifice behind one of her most memorable tours.
