Semey's Green Time Eco-Marathon: A Community's Commitment to a Cleaner Future

Semey's Green Time Eco-Marathon: 70 Volunteers Clean Up Pestroe Lake Semey, Kazakhstan – On May 21, 2025, the shores of Pestroe Lake witnessed a surge of community spirit as 70 volunteers and students from various organizations participated in the annual Green Time eco-marathon. This event, organized by the Штаб JE SKO, the Center for Public Development and Information, and the Birgemiz volunteer front office, focused on cleaning up the lake's surrounding area. The initiative underscores the growing environmental awareness within the Semey community. Participants, many from the Higher Pedagogical College, enthusiastically took part. Daina Baimukanova, chair of the Штаб JE SKO, stated, "It's wonderful to see so many caring people participating. Each year, more people get involved, showing our society is becoming more environmentally conscious." Another participant, Zhanbota Amangeldiev, a student at the Higher College, added, "We participate every year because it's for our people, for clean air. Cleanliness is in our hands!" The eco-marathon not only cleaned the lake's environs but also exemplified the power of collective action in environmental protection.
