63-Year Mystery Solved: Woman Who Vanished in 1962 Found Alive and Content
A woman who vanished from Wisconsin in 1962 has been found alive and well, 63 years after her disappearance. Odri Bakerber, who left her husband and two children, was located 480 kilometers away from her original home following the reopening of her case this year. Investigators utilized online genealogy to trace her whereabouts. Authorities confirmed that her disappearance was a personal choice, unrelated to any criminal activity. Prior to her departure, Bakerber had reportedly filed a complaint against her husband for domestic violence; she was married to him at the age of 15. On the day she disappeared, she left with a nanny for a payment and subsequently hitchhiked to Indianapolis. While the nanny returned, Bakerber continued her journey alone, disappearing without a trace. A detective who spoke with her stated, "She shows no signs of regret and sounds satisfied with her life." Her decision to begin a new life remains an enigma for many, despite the resolution of her long-standing missing persons case.
