Fast-Moving Fire Forces Evacuations at Livermore In-N-Out
Livermore Brush Fire Causes Evacuations at In-N-Out Burger A brush fire near the In-N-Out Burger on North Livermore Avenue in Livermore, California, caused a brief evacuation of the restaurant and a nearby tire store on Saturday, May 24, 2025. The fire, which quickly spread along I-580, was captured on a PG&E fire alert camera. Firefighters from Livermore-Pleasanton, assisted by neighboring agencies, responded swiftly and contained the blaze to 2.5 acres within 30 minutes. No injuries were reported. "It was like getting really close," said Takina Piuta, an In-N-Out employee. "My car was parked right here, and I got in it, there was like ash in like the entire car." The fire prompted the evacuation of both the In-N-Out and the Les Schwab Tire store, located east of the restaurant. Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Battalion Chief Matt Thau stated that they've battled several fires in the area recently, including another fire near San Jose's Guadalupe Reservoir the previous night. He stressed the importance of creating defensible space around homes by removing leaves and other combustibles, especially within five feet of the house. "When there is a fire, the ember cast can get into those areas and cause the side of your house to catch fire." The causes of both fires are still under investigation. The quick response of firefighters prevented significant damage, limiting it to brush, grass, and some fencing. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety and preparedness during peak fire season.
