Local Sea Turtle, Dilly Dally, Released Back into Ocean After Amputation Surgery
Juno Beach, Florida - A heartwarming story of resilience unfolded on Juno Beach, Florida, on June 4th, 2025, as Dilly Dally, a loggerhead sea turtle, was returned to the Atlantic Ocean. Dilly Dally's journey began in January when she arrived at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center with severe predator wounds to her front flipper. "She originally came in back in January, and she came in with predator wounds to her front flipper," explained Marika Weber of the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in a video interview. The severity of the injuries necessitated an amputation surgery. After months of careful care and rehabilitation, Dilly Dally was deemed healthy enough for release. The video shows the tender moment as staff members gently guided her into the ocean waves. The successful release of Dilly Dally is a testament to the dedication of marine wildlife experts and a symbol of hope for the recovery of endangered species.
