Lavrov: No Putin-Zelenskyy Meeting Planned Without Clear Agenda, Citing Past Rejections
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated in an exclusive interview with Meet the Press that a meeting between President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not currently planned. Lavrov clarified that while President Putin is ready for such a summit, a concrete presidential agenda must first be prepared. "President Putin said clearly that he is ready to meet provided this meeting is really going to have an agenda, presidential agenda," Lavrov said. He added, "And this agenda is not ready at all." Lavrov further claimed that previous proposals, including discussions on territorial issues and a rejection of NATO membership for Ukraine, were dismissed by President Zelenskyy. "Zelenskyy said no to everything. He even said no to canceling legislation prohibiting the Russian language," Lavrov stated, questioning, "How can we meet with a person who is pretending to be a leader?" This contradicts earlier claims by the White House regarding the readiness for such a meeting.
