Jail Escapee's Social Media Taunts Lead to Failed Police Raid
New Orleans Jail Escapee Taunts Police with Social Media Videos A daring jailbreak in New Orleans last month left ten inmates on the run. While eight have been recaptured, two remain at large. One of these fugitives, Antoine Massey, has taken an unusual approach to evading capture: posting videos of himself on social media. In these videos, Massey claims he wasn't an escapee, stating, "They say that I broke out. I didn't break out. I was let out." The videos, posted on Instagram, show Massey in what appears to be a residential setting. Their authenticity was confirmed by Massey's mother and pastor, who spoke to NBC News. The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office used the videos to target a home roughly two miles from the jail, but Massey was not found. Massey's mother made a public plea for him to turn himself in, stating, "If you do nothing else, do this for mom and I promise you, with every breath in my body that God gave me, we going to fight this out the right way." The other fugitive, Derrick Groves, is a convicted murderer. A $50,000 reward is offered for the capture of both Massey and Groves.
