

17 Bodies Found in Clandestine Grave Near Mexican Soccer Field
Seventeen bodies were discovered in a clandestine grave in Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico, on May 23-24, 2025, according to a report by Noticias Telemundo. The grim find occurred near a children's soccer field, in an abandoned house. "It wasn't a fortuitous discovery, but the result of sustained intelligence work," stated the Guanajuato State Prosecutor's Office. Forensic experts and canine units participated in the excavation. Of the 17 bodies, 11 are male, two female, and the gender of three remains unknown. Five victims have been identified, all previously reported missing. Local residents expressed fear and concern, with one resident stating, "We are overwhelmed by the crime." The discovery highlights the ongoing issue of clandestine graves in Irapuato; 44 bodies were found in 10 such graves in 2024, and 73 in 6 in 2023.
