BUCHAREST, Romania – A recent video uploaded by user "officialbodialex" has sparked public debate after documenting an alleged instance of police misconduct during a traffic stop. The video, filmed by the driver, shows an interaction with a Romanian police officer, identified as Mr. Moraru from Section 26. The driver claims he was stopped twice within a short distance and that Officer Moraru proceeded to conduct a personal search of both the vehicle and its occupants without presenting a warrant. In the video's accompanying text, the driver stated, "Mr. Moraru stopped me twice in 100 meters, and the second time he said he wanted to take the abuse to the end! Despite the fact that I was ironic, and his frustration was evident on his face, his behavior was extremely different from that of his colleague, who was irreproachable." The driver further questioned the legality of the search, asking the officer, "What law allows you to search my bag and my car?" The officer responded that it was a "control" and not a "search," but did not cite a specific legal article when pressed. The incident has drawn attention to citizens' rights during police interactions. Comments on the video highlight concerns about warrantless searches, with one user stating, "ABUSE! According to Article 157 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, a search (including of a vehicle) can only be done with a warrant from a judge!" The driver has indicated his intention to file a formal complaint, emphasizing the importance of professional conduct from public servants.
