Minsk Woman Loses 1400 Rubles in iPhone Scam
Minsk resident loses 1400 rubles in iPhone scam. A young woman from Minsk recently fell victim to an online scam, losing 1400 rubles in the process. She had contacted a seller on social media who offered an iPhone 16 Pro Max at a significantly reduced price. The seller requested full payment upfront, promising delivery shortly after. However, after the woman transferred the money, the seller disappeared, deleting all communication. "I went to the bank, deposited the money onto my card, and paid through internet banking," the victim stated. Following the transaction, the seller confirmed receipt of the funds and gave a delivery time, but neither the phone nor the seller ever reappeared. A criminal investigation into the fraud has been launched by the Minsk police. This incident serves as a cautionary tale for online shoppers to be wary of deals that seem too good to be true and to avoid making full payments upfront before receiving goods.
