As summer approaches, many pool owners face the persistent nuisance of wasps. However, new strategies are emerging to help keep these stinging insects at bay, ensuring a more enjoyable poolside experience. Experts suggest three effective methods to deter wasps from congregating around swimming areas. The first involves a natural repellent: simply cut a lemon in half and embed cloves into its pulp. Placing these lemon halves on a plate outdoors near the pool can help ward off wasps. Another method utilizes specialized wasp repellent liquids, such as 'Diavispas'. Users are advised to spray desired surfaces and surrounding furniture near the pool with this liquid to create an invisible barrier. Finally, a clever trick involves creating 'fake' wasp nests. By hanging a brown paper bag, shaped to resemble a wasp nest, in strategic locations close to the pool, real wasps are often fooled into believing the area is already occupied by a rival colony, leading them to seek other territories. These practical solutions offer pool owners simple yet effective ways to maintain a wasp-free environment throughout the warmer months.
