Bucharest Unirii Square Reconstruction: Detours and Timeline
Bucharest's Unirii Square Undergoes Reconstruction: Detours and Updates Bucharest, Romania – Major road construction has begun at Unirii Square in Bucharest, causing significant traffic disruptions. The project, a joint effort between Sector 4 and the Romanian government, involves the complete reconstruction of the square's pavement. The work is expected to last several months. Sector 4 Mayor Daniel Baluta, in a recent video, outlined the necessary detours for drivers. "Splaiul Independentei is closed between Piata Natiunilor Unite and Piata Unirii," he explained. "Drivers coming from the University area should use the provisional route through Unirii Park. Those approaching from Calea Victoriei or Eroilor should use the detour near the Palace of the Parliament and the fountains." The project aims to modernize Unirii Square and improve safety for citizens. The government is committed to minimizing disruptions and ensuring the work is completed efficiently. Once finished, the square is expected to be a more modern and safer space for residents and visitors alike.
