
Greek Minister Chrisochoidis: "Delinquent Roma Must Change Profession"
Athens, Greece – Public Order Minister Michalis Chrisochoidis has issued a strong statement regarding crime in Greece, asserting that individuals engaged in criminal activities, particularly those living off them, "must change profession." Speaking in a recent interview, the Minister highlighted the significant challenge posed by organized crime, including drug trafficking and major thefts, which he indicated largely originates from specific segments of the population. Minister Chrisochoidis emphasized the government's unwavering commitment to combating crime, noting that the police force, including a new specialized unit, is conducting daily operations and making numerous arrests. "Before a few days, we had 50 arrests from a small security department in Kamatero," he stated, underscoring the proactive approach of law enforcement. He stressed the importance of upholding the social contract in a democratic society, where mutual respect and adherence to the law are paramount. "No one can live at your expense, stealing from you," Chrisochoidis remarked, referring to acts like snatching watches or bags. He reiterated that the police are deeply involved in these efforts, with cases being uncovered and individuals being preventively detained daily.
