
MXN$1 Billion Investment to Modernize Hermosillo Airport
Hermosillo Airport to Receive Major Modernization Boost Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico – The Hermosillo International Airport is set for a major upgrade, thanks to a MXN$1,076 million investment announced by Governor Alfonso Durazo. This substantial funding will modernize airport facilities, enhancing passenger experience and operational efficiency. The investment comes on the heels of the airport receiving prestigious ASQ awards for two consecutive years, a testament to its already high-quality service. Governor Durazo stated, "This is a historic investment, not just in infrastructure, but in the growth of our state and the well-being of our citizens." The modernization plan includes significant expansions: a 71% increase in the waiting area, a 157% boost in baggage handling capacity, and a 21% expansion of the air platform. The project will also add new aircraft positions, improving operational flow and accommodating increased air traffic. This significant investment underscores the commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing the travel experience in Sonora. The modernization project is expected to create jobs and stimulate economic growth in the region.
