The distribution of sacrificial meat in the Cikiwul area of Bekasi, Indonesia, recently sparked controversy after it came to light that the local Indonesian Recyclers Association (IPI) was charging Rp15,000 for each bag of meat. This practice, confirmed by IPI head Tarmin, was intended to cover the costs of the animal's slaughter and the committee's expenses. However, this decision caused significant public backlash. "We apologize for the commotion," Tarmin stated. Following the controversy, Camat Bantargebang, Cecep Miftah Farid, along with other local officials, visited Tarmin to discuss the matter. The investigation revealed that 174 of the 444 printed coupons were sold, generating Rp2,610,000. Mr. Farid announced that the IPI will return all the funds collected. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of transparency and accountability in the distribution of resources, especially during religious events.
