Philippines Enters Rainy Season, PAGASA Forecasts Multiple Typhoons
The Philippines officially entered the rainy season on Monday, June 2, 2025, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). PAGASA's announcement comes three days after they declared the onset of the southwest monsoon. The criteria for declaring the rainy season involves at least seven out of thirteen weather stations in Western Luzon and the Visayas recording 25 millimeters of rainfall over five days, with at least one millimeter of rain for three consecutive days. "The declaration signifies the start of the wet season," said a PAGASA spokesperson. PAGASA also forecasts 11 to 19 tropical cyclones to affect the country between June and November. This information is crucial for the public to prepare for potential flooding and other weather-related challenges. The rainy season typically runs from late May or early June to November.
